To catch up on the team quilt and how it came together just go to ~
I loved getting quilt blocks from all over the world in the mail. I have to say I did not expect all the different mailing packages on how the blocks would arrive.
I was finally able to finish piecing the last few rows this morning! The pieced top is 70″ x 84″.
It will be in the mail and on its way to be quilted by ~ https://www.etsy.com/shop/lynndalou
Then our binder and labeler ~ https://www.etsy.com/shop/BackPocketDesign
The backing I chose for this one is a light green flower print and the binding has a lot of different colors in it!

I am still receiving blocks daily and a second quilt is already in the works!! Can’t wait to see this one finished.
These are all the shops that have participated so far in the Quiltsy Team quilt. Please check them out!
And of course me!!! Thebutterflyquilter.etsy.com!
Remember once the top is all finished it will be available for purchase at https://www.etsy.com/shop/QuiltsyTeam
If you want to see how it has been going with our team shop quilt check out here how it began!
At the end of each sashing strip I added a 1 1/2 inch x 3 1/2 inch of white fabric.
I took a 6 1/2 inch size block that I received and took out the seam in the middle so I would have two 3 1/2 x 6 1/2 sections.
Full block 6 1/2 inch square
Two pieces each 3 1/2 x 6 1/2
I then added a section to the end of each finished pieced row.
Add halve section to end of each row.
This is actually the border. So when you sew your rows together the border is already added on! The only border row you need to piece is the top and bottom border row.
So far it is coming along. It is taking a little bit longer than I thought but so worth it. Love all the bright colors!
Remember this quilt will be for sale when it is all finished and quilted in our Quiltsy Team Etsy Store!
So far I have received 60 envelopes in the mail! So fun getting them from Ireland, Canada, Lithuania and the U.S.
Hop on over to check out what other quilters are doing on my Quiltsy Team Blog ~ http://teamquiltsy.blogspot.com
I love doing group quilts. There is always a challenge on what to do with the blocks. Well, since I was the one that suggested the group quilt all I can do is smile as I receive the blocks in the mail. It is so much fun running to the post to pick up envelopes from someone you never met and open them up. Everyone has a different perspective about what is bright and what is colorful! This is the first quilt (I think there may be two at least) that I designed around 4 patches. Everyone that wished to participate was asked to send 2 different size 4 patches ~ One measuring 6 1/2 unfinished and one measuring 4 1/2 unfinished. I sat down and made one myself to figure out a design I would like. I had a design in mind, then scratched the whole idea and came up with this one instead. I already love how it is looking with only 4 sets of blocks!!!
First the small four patch measuring 4 1/2 square.
Small four patch
Add a 1 1/2 inch strip to all sides! I used Kona Bay White.
Next take you 6 1/2 inch unfinished block and cut it up into four 1 1/2 inch strips!
There will be a little center left over that needs to be discarded. I know it was hard to cut up a block but it will add to the quilt!
6 1/2 inch unfinished block
Cut into 1 1/2 inch strips
These strips will be the sashing between the blocks! I will be putting in a white square of fabric between the sashing. Did I tell you this is a scrappy quilt! I already love the look of this! Will be posting photo’s as I go along. Next week I will tell you how I am using some of the 6 1/2 inch unfinished blocks for the border!
On the design wall!
This quilt when done will be available for sale in our Team Shop! Here is the link to our shop! ~ https://www.etsy.com/people/QuiltsyTeam
