I had made a decision not to do anymore word quilts but I seem to keep getting requests for them. After thinking about it I designated the month of July to do a new design of them. Only this month will I be making them! I have been mounting a lot of my smaller quilts on canvas and thought why not put four words on a quilt, mount it on to canvas so that you would be able to rotate them. Which ever way you hang the canvas that is the word for the day, week or month. Using my Shiva Paint Sticks I stenciled on four words that I felt would work well together. Gratitude, Serenity, Joy and Love. I am working on a wellness set also.
Stencils and shiva paint sticks
One thing I had to think about was a design that was not directional. When you rotate the canvas it would not matter. These are the first three.
On my wall is a large size inspirational word quilt I am working on. Instead of Shiva Paint sticks I am using Pebeo Setacolor Fabric Paints. I just put enough paint on the stencil brush and then dabbed at the stencil with it. It gives the words a more painted look that I like a lot. It took me a while to get 21 words done. A few mistakes along the way but thats OK. I then decided to just put together different size blocks and strips to form a 14 1/2 inch unfinished block. I need 9 blocks to make the quilt. I have 5 done!
Here are a few of the blocks done. I think it looks like a modern design.
My hope is to have this one and a couple of other quilts mounted on canvas done this month. Don’t forget celebrating Christmas in July on Etsy.

This week I am trying to get a new supply of my inspirational word quilts. I took a day to piece them and finished painting my words. So they are waiting to get quilted. I try to get all my binding cut, labels done, backing and batting cut so all I have to do is sandwich the layers together and start quilting. I will have a pile of them in my sew area to work on.

I was trying to think of a smaller version of my inspirational word quilts. I went to do some retail therapy at an art supply store and came across these little letters. I thought maybe I can just stamp them onto fabric because the area would be small for what I wanted to do. It worked!
New Letter Stamps!
I pulled out some of my flower fabrics and found some smaller buds and flowers to cut out for the middle. I then needed to decided what the background would be. I decided on this left over tan striped fabric because it had enough contrast but yet still soft. White I thought was a little to harsh for these.
borders around flowers
Finished and listed them. I think I might try to figure a better way to bind them since they are so small but really wanted a little border to go around the edges to finish it off and frame them.
Three mini’s finished!
Fabric for my inspirational word quilts are in the dryer. I wash all my fabric before I start a project. I look for fabric with a big flower or motif that I can center my word quilts with. Most came from left over pieces of scrap fabric from other projects.
Shiva paints out and ready to stencil some words onto my white Kona fabric. That is my goal today is to get 5 words stenciled onto my pieces of fabric. I have a custom order to do this week. Once the words are stenciled onto the fabric I have to let the paint sit for 24 to 48 hours before I use my iron to heat set the paint. The first time I didn’t read the instruction on my “Shiva Paints” and had to clean my iron, throw away my iron board cover and well lets just say you couldn’t tell what the words where! LOL
Next is to quilt the two that are already sandwich together and are ready to quilt. I try to piece a lot of my word quilts at once. Have all the binding and the sleeves with labels done before I start quilting. I hate to make the binding at the end when I am finished quilting. If I make my binding before I start quilting it seems I get my quilts done faster. This is not true really but in my mind I think it does!
